Shots in the Dark - Episode 7 10.10.07: Bioshock, Halo 3 and Newsarama news

After a bit of a hiatus, the Shots in the Dark crew has returned with a new show for your eardrums. We’ve changed up the format a bit, making things leaner, tighter and even more ridiculous. On this show, we cover the latest news on Bungie, Halo 3, Half Life 2 and Newsarama.com. In addition, we’ve got extensive video game reviews of blockbusters Bioshock and Halo 3. JB also brings back our Red Sabre segment, with the latest news from the world of Star Wars. Tune in and shout out with your comments below. We always welcome comments, questions, kudos, jibes and digs.

Fear not, fans of Lucas. Rumor has it that he’ll be putting up a pocketcast with a little review of the graphic novel soon to be feature film: 30 Days of Night.

Bioshock Developer Joe McDonagh!

Friday, August 17th, 2007

At Wizard World Chicago, Shots in the Dark got the chance not only to play Bioshock ahead of its release next week, but also to have a nice talk with Joe McDonagh about the game and its development. So sit back, relax, and laugh at foreign colloquialisms. Here it is, another WWC SitD Pocketcast!

Oblivion Expansion Pack: Shivering Isles

Monday, April 2nd, 2007

I logged on, I downloaded, I played… I downloaded again, but this time in my pants. The next release for the Elder Scrolls IV series was unveiled on March 27, 2007 on XBox Live. Being an avid Oblivion player, with my 20th level Elf Archer being pretty much unbeatable, I quickly found myself dominating everything that the previous expansions could muster - including the amazing holy quest of the “Nights of the Nine” This is where it begins. In the middle of a lake in Cyrodiil - just east of the Imperial City, an island appears with a triple headed doorway to The Realm of Madness, also known as the Shivering Isles, a realm ruled by the daedric prince Sheogorath. At the head of the doorway are bystanders who seem to already be aware of this random occurrence. “Interesting,” I muttered to myself. I pressed on. I managed to enter the glowing doorway, arrow knocked, ready to kill whatever I had to. (more…)

Rock Band - Absolute Genius

Monday, April 2nd, 2007

www.rockbandgame.com

You back? Good. This is going to be amazing. As you may or may not know, MTV acquired Harmonix, the developer that has brought us the very addictive Guitar Hero series. Now, this new conglomerate, along with EA, are bringing out a new game this holiday season called “Rock Band.” In it, there will be a guitar track, bass track, drum track, AND vocals!

That’s right- you and 3 of your friends can all stand around with various bizarre controllers in front of your PS3 or Xbox360 and make utter, utter fools of yourselves. This is brilliant. I can’t wait! No screen shots or anything yet; we just got the press release today about it. I for one am very excited. If you want to hear more about the game and the whole cast’s thoughts, be sure to check out our inaugural  podcast as Shots in the Dark THIS SATURDAY at 6pm, only at www.shotgunreviews.com/shots. So, what do YOU think?

A New Era

Thursday, March 29th, 2007

Well, here we are. Shots in the Dark- you don’t see us, but you always hear us. I’m Lucas, aka The Geek, and I’m here to welcome you to a new era.

What was the old era, you ask? Well, we’re not gonna talk about that much. Let’s just say there WAS an old era, and all 6 core members of this fantabulous new blog/podcast team have worked together on a different podcast previously. In addition to that, Janelle and I have been writing for Best Shots and Shotgun Reviews for a while now.

What’re we bringing to this new era? I’m so glad you asked! First and foremost, we are a Podcast team. There’re tons and tons of podcasts out there nowadays, but not a lot that cover the broad range of “Geek Culture” that we do here. Between our original content in the form of bits, segments, and more to come, and our amazing interviews with people like nerdcore rapper MC Lars and DC Senior Editor Mike Marts (and that was just in a 3 week span!), we are going to bring nothing but the best to your tempanic membranes. For those who are more visually stimulated, that’s why we have our full site, and of course, this here BLOG

As for Reviews, we’ll be reviewing just about everything under the sun. We have cool reviews coming up on some newish Nintendo DS games, and some hot gear from Logitech. If you’re wondering if you should be throwin down those hard earned ducketts on something, we’ll let you know here.

So, if you’ve heard us talk before, you’re in for the best of the old and a whole crapload of exciting new.

If you’re a new listener/reader, welcome! We officially launch on April 7th, and we’ll be jumping into this thing head first. Stay tuned for the announcement on our exact topic- we want to keep you in suspense a little longer.

Until then, visit our site, talk to us on our forum, and most importantly, geek out!

-Lucas
