Episode III Dream
By Matt McConnell

This is just a dream I had, not an actual prediction, nor a conscious peculation, though it may be taken as an unconscious speculation. ;) As with all dreams, I remembered only the vein as well as odd details however, it does make narrative sense, and is cohesive within the Star Wars cannon. But remains just a dream.

I walked into the theater, bought my ticket, and over to the concessions stand. I decided against any over priced candy or other assorted junk foods, and took my seat in the auditorium. I don't remember whether I was alone in there or not, but the movie began almost at once.

The opening scroll talks about how Palpatine has declared himself emperor and bent the senate to his will. The majority of people see this as a good thing, as it brings stability to the galaxy; a few remain skeptical however, among them the Jedi. But the Jedi have problems of their own, one among their number, a powerful knight named Skywalker, has disappeared, and given his past struggles resisting the Dark Side of the Force, he is feared lost. His teacher, Obi-Wan Kenobi has been summoned to the council in an attempt to bring him back…

Obi-Wan steps into the council chamber on Couresant and is commanded to find Skywalker. He is only to bring the young Jedi to the council for testing, to determine whether Skywalker has merely gone 'rouge' on some youthful whim, or if he has indeed fallen to the Dark Side. Obi-Wan questions the need to hunt his student so, when he has done nothing gravely wrong. The council is adamant, and Obi-Wan leaves for Alderann.

Obi-Wan goes to Alderann where Padme is in hiding with the family of Bail Organa. Bail is still senator for Alderann and remains one of the most powerful members of the senate. Padme confides in Obi-Wan that she is pregnant; Obi-Wan swears he will bring Ani back to her.

Cut to Ani on some slum, industrial, city planet. We're talking heavy industrial yuck here. He is playing at being a dark vigilante type, ala Batman, using both sides of the Force to bring justice to the poor down trodden masses. He thinks that this is the way he'll being balance to the Force, by righting the wrongs by whatever means necessary. He hooks up with some damn alien who convinces him to meet 'a friend'.

Ani arrives on the stormy, red rock, hellhole called Vjun, where Vader will later build his castle. He is shown into a room where Palpatine is waiting. Palpataine explains that he is familiar with the prophecy regarding "the one who will bring balance to the Force." Palpataine offers to help Ani fulfill this prophecy, and makes a few token demonstrations of his less flashy, and less devious, powers. Ani is duly impressed, and Palpatine offers to train Ani. Ani agrees.

Obi-Wan, through various machinations, makes it to the industrial world and begins to look for Ani. He discovers what his student has been up to and tracks down the alien contact. The contact spills the beans about Darth Sidious wanting to meet with the youthful Jedi, and Obi-Wan bolts for Couresant to tell the council and get help.

As Obi-Wan is telling the council about his findings, a contingent of Storm Troopers (I think this is the first time we've seen them) backed by other Imperial forces surround the Jedi complex, and demand the surrender of the council. The Imperials manage to waylay the council as they attempt to escape, and while the rest of the council members hold off the troops, Yoda, Mace Windu, and Obi-Wan make off in Obi-Wan's ship.

Following this incident, the senate declares that the Jedi are dangerous rebels who threaten the peace of the Empire with their vile and supernatural powers. The council is charged with treason, and every Jedi is to be hunted down and arrested.

Obi-Wan, Windu, and Yoda see these events unfold as they make for Alderann. They tell Padme, who is quite a ways along in her pregnancy, that they need Ani on their side, or they'll have to stop him. The situation is far too unstable to have a rouge Jedi, let alone a Sith, waltzing about the galaxy. Bit emotional scene, and Padme asks them to bring 'her Ani' back to her.

While Yoda stays with Padme on Alderann, Obi-Wan and Windu travel to Vjun. They find Ani on a windswept volcano top, practicing. Big argument. Ani final lights up his saber and takes a swing at Windu. Big fight, very impressive. Ani finally gets a mortal blow in on Windu, and he fades into the Force. I want to say that Windu looks at Obi-Wan and makes the motion like Obi-Wan does in his fight with Vader at the end of Star Wars, but I think that's just too much. The fight goes on, and Obi-Wan finally manages a Force trick that sends Ani tumbling into the volcano. Obi-Wan picks up Ani's lightsaber and gets the hell out of Dodge.

Ani, filled with enough rage and hatred for his former master to really channel the Dark Side for the first time, rises out of the volcano. He has just enough energy to get to the lip and drop onto the rock before he looses his grip on the Dark Side and collapses onto the ground.

Obi-Wan returns to Alderann; he tells Padme and Yoda what happened, but that while he thought he had done his former pupil in, he still felt Ani's presence in the Force as he left Vjun. Yoda agrees, and they decide to take Padme's twins, separate them, and hide them, along with Padme. She is to become a wandering woman, iterant, without any permanent home. Yoda tells him that when either twin is ready, to send them to him for training. Bail Organa says he'll keep one of the twins, Obi-Wan is skeptical, but Organa's personal charisma and courage wins over. Obi-Wan leaves with Luke.

In a dark operating theater, Palpatine, backed by two of his personal guard, oversee medical druids and technicians working on something. Very audible hum and workings of medical equipment.

Bail Organa rocking Leia in his arms with a backdrop of Alderann. Luke is delivered to Owen and Beru, and Obi-Wan begins to construct his new home.

The back of a black clad figure wearing a half skull cap, one side glistening plastic, the other a scarred tangle of skin and sparse hair, looking out of a window of a spaceship. Palapatine comes in, and places an arm on the shoulder of the figure, and says something to the effect of "We will find those Jedi who did this to you, and then you will exact your vengeance my apprentice." Followed by, oh you knew it was coming, "Yes, my master." And Vader breathing.
